Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., who has represented Washington’s 8th congressional district since 2019, addressed several significant issues in a series of posts on her official Twitter account this week.
On January 6, 2026, Schrier marked the fifth anniversary of the attack on the U.S. Capitol by honoring law enforcement and reaffirming her stance against political violence. She wrote, “Today marks five years since the violent attack on the United States Capitol. On this solemn anniversary, we remember the extraordinary bravery of the law enforcement officers who defended our nation’s Capitol on January 6th, 2021, and recommit to standing against political” (January 6, 2026).
Later that day, Schrier expressed condolences following news of Congressman LaMalfa’s death. In her post she stated, “I’m deeply saddened to learn that Congressman LaMalfa has passed away. I know how devoted he was to his constituents, particularly with regard to the devastating Camp Fire. We worked together on legislation to manage forests and prevent other catastrophic wildfires, and I will” (January 6, 2026).
On January 7, Schrier criticized Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s changes to childhood immunization policy and called for a reversal of those decisions: “RFK Jr.’s decision to gut the childhood immunization schedule – with no consultation from reputable experts – is reckless and puts children’s lives at risk. I’m proud to lead 115 of my colleagues in urging him to uphold his oath to protect children’s health by restoring the https://t.co/cZjrJXZjpZ” (January 7, 2026).
Schrier is currently serving in Congress after succeeding Dave Reichert in Washington’s 8th district in 2019. She was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and resides in Sammamish. Schrier holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
