Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district since 2019, recently posted a series of updates on her official Twitter account addressing environmental policy, youth engagement in agriculture, and healthcare initiatives.
On July 19, 2025, Schrier criticized recent actions by the Environmental Protection Agency under former President Trump: “Trump’s EPA just fired hundreds of scientists – the ones who make sure our water is safe to drink and our air is safe to breathe, and who study the impacts of wildfire smoke and PFAS on our health. This is another pro-billionaire, anti-us move by the Trump Administration. Does”.
The following day, July 20, she highlighted her meeting with student leaders from Washington’s National FFA Organization: “I had a fantastic time meeting with Washington’s @NationalFFA State Officers this week to talk about their future goals in the agriculture industry and how we can continue to work to support farmers across our district. What a fantastic group of students! https://t.co/tUkJYtUb5Z”.
On July 21, Schrier addressed her legislative efforts in healthcare for children: “Early detection and treatment help kids live safe, healthy lives. That is why I am proud to co-lead the Newborn Screening Saves Lives Reauthorization Act that ensures rare diseases are identified and treated at birth. https://t.co/WgCBWAmyHc”.
Schrier has served as the representative for Washington’s 8th District since succeeding Dave Reichert in 2019. She was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently resides in Sammamish. Schrier holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
