Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district since 2019, addressed a range of issues on July 26, 2025, in a series of posts on her social media account.
In her first post, Schrier commented on the ongoing conflict in Gaza and called for urgent humanitarian action. She wrote, “The tremendous suffering in Gaza, on top of nearly 2 years of a war that Hamas inflicted on both Gazans and Israelis, must end. That means an immediate surge of humanitarian aid to civilians. Israel and the U.S. must make every attempt to safeguard innocents. Hamas must release” (July 26, 2025).
Later the same day, Schrier highlighted her professional background as a pediatrician and announced new legislative efforts aimed at improving children’s health care nationwide. She stated, “As a pediatrician, I’ve seen firsthand how early detection and treatment help children live healthy lives.
To make sure that children across the country get screened for these diseases at birth, I recently introduced the bipartisan Newborn Screening Saves Lives Reauthorization” (July 26, 2025).
In another post that evening, Schrier discussed her meeting with the Patient Quality of Life Coalition regarding palliative care access for patients facing life-threatening illnesses. She posted, “I met with the Patient Quality of Life Coalition this week to talk about how important it is that patients and families can easily access high-quality palliative care, and discuss how to improve quality of care and life for adults and children who face life-threatening illnesses.” (July 26, 2025).
Schrier was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently resides in Sammamish. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
