Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., who represents Washington’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, used her Twitter account this week to address issues ranging from federal housing policy to vaccine advocacy and community updates.

On July 18, Schrier criticized proposed federal budget cuts, stating, “The Trump Administration’s push to cut low-income housing programs would be devastating for Washington. Havalah from Woodinville relies on a HUD program to live in her apartment while working to support her and her son and make ends meet. She, like so many others, is now”.

The following day, she posted a regular update for constituents: “Here is this week’s Schrier Flyer! https://t.co/8c4HNH71kV” (July 19).

Later that same day, Schrier shared details of a meeting with an NFL player and malaria survivor: “Great to meet with NFL player @THE_CONDA25 this week to talk about his experience as a malaria survivor and about the importance of protecting lifesaving vaccines. I am truly inspired by Calvin’s work and look forward to working together to advocate for vaccine access! https://t.co/YBW7vytPv5” (July 19).

Schrier has served in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Dave Reichert. She was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently resides in Sammamish. Schrier earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991.
