Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 8th district since 2019, recently addressed several key issues on her social media account, ranging from federal law enforcement actions to food security and healthcare legislation.
On January 7, 2026, Schrier commented on an incident involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating: “This administration promised to use ICE to deport the ‘worst of the worst,’ but today we are all outraged to see ICE kill a U.S. citizen. I’m praying for the loved ones of the victim. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their community, particularly around federal law enforcement.”
The following day, she highlighted efforts to support local agriculture and address hunger in Washington state: “Food banks and local farms play a crucial role in our communities here in Washington. I was proud to recently introduce the Expanding Access to (EAT) Healthy Foods from Local Farmers Act, bipartisan legislation that helps get produce from local farmers to food banks, improving” (January 8, 2026).
Later that same day, Schrier addressed healthcare affordability through legislative action: “I was proud to vote on bipartisan legislation to extend healthcare tax credits that help my constituents, along with millions of others, to afford their insurance. I’ve fought for the extension of these credits for months and urge the Senate to follow our lead to pass this” (January 8, 2026).
Schrier has represented Washington’s 8th District since replacing Dave Reichert in 2019. She was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently resides in Sammamish. Schrier holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
