Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district, has recently shared insights into her legislative activities and community engagements through a series of tweets. Schrier, who replaced Dave Reichert in 2019, highlighted her commitment to addressing various issues pertinent to her constituents.
On May 14, Rep. Schrier tweeted about the conclusion of a lengthy markup session with the Energy and Commerce Committee. She stated, “After 26 and a half hours, our @EnergyCommerce markup has finally wrapped up.” Schrier expressed pride in opposing what she described as the Republicans’ plan to fund billionaire tax cuts by reducing Medicaid funding.
The following day, on May 15, she shared her experience speaking at an annual event for Breakthrough T1D. In her tweet, she mentioned being honored to participate in the Beat the Bridge run and noted its significance for those affected by type-1 diabetes. She wrote, “I was honored to speak at the 43rd annual Beat the Bridge for @BreakthroughT1D run.”
On May 16, Schrier focused on agricultural concerns within her district. She discussed a meeting with Rosella Mosby from the Washington Farm Bureau regarding legislative priorities for supporting local farmers and growers. Her tweet stated, “Our agriculture industry is an irreplicable part of the Eighth District’s economy and character.”
Kim Schrier was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and resides in Sammamish. She graduated from UC Berkeley with a BS degree in 1991.
