Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district since 2019, recently used her social media platform to address issues ranging from public broadcasting to water infrastructure and congressional funding decisions.

On July 17, 2025, Schrier highlighted the importance of public broadcasting for communities in Washington state. She stated, “Public broadcasting keeps folks across Washington—especially in rural communities like the ones I represent—informed about emergencies, local news, and what’s happening across the world. Now more than ever, people need access to unbiased sources of news and information. I will https://t.co/tHY4OkOr8O”.

Later that day, Schrier discussed her meeting with local officials regarding water supply and infrastructure improvements. On July 17, she posted: “It was great to meet with the @Covington_Water District Commissioners this week to discuss how to protect access to a reliable water supply for our communities and restore crucial funding for much-needed updates to the Howard Hanson Dam. https://t.co/FhSfLCPxV4”.

On July 18, Schrier addressed recent legislative actions concerning federal funding: “My statement on the House passage of President Trump’s request to cancel $9 billion in congressionally appropriated funding for public broadcasting and essential foreign assistance, including global health and food programs. https://t.co/RNahjamjYM”.

Schrier has served as a representative since replacing Dave Reichert in 2019. Born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently residing in Sammamish, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley (1991).
