Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district, has recently shared a series of tweets addressing both opportunities for local students and her stance on national political matters. Schrier, who succeeded Dave Reichert in 2019, continues to engage with her constituents through social media.
On March 3, 2025, Rep. Schrier announced an opportunity for local college students to apply for a summer internship at her office. She emphasized the application deadline by stating: “Calling local college students: My office is currently accepting applications for our summer 2025 internship! The deadline to apply is March 31st, and the link to submit your application is below!”
The following day, March 4, 2025, Schrier addressed her decision to attend President Trump’s address to Congress. She clarified that her attendance was not an endorsement but rather a commitment to advocate for her constituents: “I will be attending President Trump’s address to Congress tonight. This is not an easy decision, but my presence is not an endorsement of this administration or its actions.”
After attending the address on March 5, 2025, Rep. Schrier expressed her concerns about the President’s focus and its potential impact on federal programs and constituents: “I just attended the President’s address to Congress. While he made it clear he’s focused on sowing division and cutting key federal programs, I remain committed to standing up for my constituents.”
