Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district, has recently shared a series of tweets reflecting on community events and engagements. These tweets highlight her involvement with local communities and her ongoing commitment to addressing issues pertinent to her constituents.

On March 22, 2025, Rep. Schrier reflected on the tragic event that occurred eleven years ago: “Eleven years ago, our community was forever changed by the SR 530/Oso Landslide. That day, 43 people lost their lives in the deadliest landslide in our nation’s history.” She expressed her condolences to those affected by this tragedy and emphasized her continued thoughts for the Oso community.

Later that day, Rep. Schrier visited a local veterans’ facility as she noted in another tweet from March 22: “I stopped by the Orting Soldiers Home, where I met with some of our local Veterans, got a firsthand look at their transitional housing project improvements, and heard about their future plans to expand their facility.” This visit underscores her engagement with veteran affairs and interest in supporting military personnel transitioning back into civilian life.

The following day on March 23, Rep. Schrier tweeted about her visit to a local business: “I was happy to visit Mount Rainier Creamery & Market and meet with owners Ryan and Haylee Mensonides to see how their business is doing and buy a mocha and some of their farm fresh eggs!” This reflects her support for small businesses within her district.
