Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district, has taken to social media to express her concerns regarding recent Senate confirmation hearings involving RFK Jr. The tweets highlight various claims and events related to the hearings.

On January 31, 2025, Rep. Schrier tweeted about a particular moment during the hearings when RFK Jr. was questioned by Senator Bennet on several health-related conspiracy theories he supports. “When pressed by @SenatorBennet on a number of his health-related conspiracy theories, including calling Covid-19 and Lyme Disease engineered bioweapons, RFK Jr. stood by these claims.”

In another tweet from the same day, Rep. Schrier criticized RFK Jr.’s conduct during his confirmation hearings with two Senate Committees that week. She accused him of dishonesty and perpetuating conspiracy theories, which she believes disqualify him from being the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). “This week, RFK Jr. had confirmation hearings with two Senate Committees where he lied about his past, continued to push conspiracy theories, and showed exactly why he is unfit to be the Secretary of @HHSGov.”

Rep. Schrier also addressed RFK Jr.’s attempt to minimize his involvement in the 2019 measles outbreak in Samoa during both hearings. She commended Senator Markey for clarifying RFK Jr.’s role in spreading anti-vaccine rhetoric at that time.“In both hearings, RFK Jr. tried to downplay his role in the deadly 2019 measles outbreak in Samoa, where he capitalized on fear and spread his anti-vaccine agenda.”
