Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., who represents Washington’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of updates on her official Twitter account regarding legislative efforts, emergency response meetings, and concerns about public health policy.
On December 18, 2025, Schrier announced progress in Congress on maintaining healthcare affordability: “In Congress, I’ve been fighting to protect the critical tax credits that keep healthcare affordable for so many Americans, and now, we’ve reached enough signatures on our discharge petition to force a vote to do just that. Millions of Americans will see catastrophic increases in”.
Later that day, she described her recent engagement with local officials and first responders: “Last weekend, I met with Pierce County Emergency Management, Mayor-elect Drennen, Councilmember Morell, the Orting Police Department, and Central Pierce County Fire and Rescue teams to discuss response efforts and meet with folks facing severe damage to their homes and https://t.co/FnNongU9E1” (December 18, 2025).
On December 19, 2025, Schrier expressed concern about developments in federal public health leadership: “Do not take your eye of RFK Jr. and his sham HHS for a moment.
If true, MAGA is taking us back more than 50 years in public health.
