Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 8th district since 2019, recently shared several updates via her social media account. The posts reflect her involvement in both regional and national matters.

On January 23, 2025, Rep. Schrier extended her congratulations to Ichiro Suzuki, a notable figure in the Pacific Northwest and a long-time member of the Seattle Mariners baseball team. She remarked on his recognition by stating: “Congratulations to Ichiro, a Pacific Northwest icon and Mariner for life, on this well-deserved honor!”

Later that day, Rep. Schrier participated in a congressional tradition with fellow members of the Washington delegation. She noted: “Joined my Washington delegation colleagues in handing off the Chick Pic to our newest members, @RepBaumgartner and Congresswoman Emily Randall.” This tradition involves new delegates displaying a cherished picture in their offices as part of their welcome to Congress.

On January 24, 2025, Rep. Schrier introduced legislation focused on children’s nutrition within schools. Drawing from her background as a pediatrician, she announced: “As a pediatrician, I know how important a nutritious diet is for our children’s health and development.” She introduced the bipartisan Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act aimed at enhancing the nutritional value of school lunches.
