Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a U.S. Congress member representing Washington’s 8th district since 2019, recently shared her activities and views through a series of tweets. Schrier, who succeeded Dave Reichert in Congress, was born in Los Angeles and currently resides in Sammamish.

On January 21, 2025, Rep. Schrier hosted an open house for her constituents visiting Washington D.C. for the inauguration. She expressed gratitude to those who attended the event and stated it provided an opportunity to hear their priorities and concerns. “Today, I held an open house for my constituents who were in town for the inauguration to welcome them to DC and to have the chance to hear their priorities and concerns.”

On January 22, 2025, she reaffirmed her commitment to defending women’s health rights on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Schrier pledged continued efforts in Congress to restore reproductive freedom amidst what she described as extreme attacks on women’s health. “As we mark the 52nd anniversary of Roe V. Wade, I remain committed to standing up to extreme attacks on women’s health and will continue working on legislation in Congress to restore reproductive freedom.”

Later that day, Rep. Schrier criticized former President Donald Trump’s pardoning of individuals involved in the January 6th Capitol attack. She emphasized the importance of remembering the events of that day despite attempts by some Republicans to downplay its significance.“On day one, Donald Trump pardoned hundreds of violent, dangerous felons who attacked law enforcement officers and stormed our nation’s Capitol.”
