Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a U.S. Congress member representing Washington’s 8th District since 2019, recently addressed several significant topics on social media. Schrier, who succeeded Dave Reichert and holds a degree from the University of California, Berkeley, engaged with constituents and shared her views on education, international affairs, and law enforcement.
On May 12, Rep. Kim Schrier expressed satisfaction in meeting with members of the Washington Education Association to discuss strategies for supporting teachers in the Eighth District. She emphasized the importance of ensuring that children receive quality education by stating “I was happy to speak with members of the Washington Education Association to go over ways we can work together to support hardworking teachers in the Eighth District and ensure that our children receive the education they deserve.”
Later on May 12, Schrier conveyed relief over the release of Edan Alexander, a U.S. citizen held captive by Hamas for 19 months. In her post, she expressed empathy towards Alexander’s family and urged for further action: “I am incredibly relieved that US citizen Edan Alexander has been released from 19 months in brutal Hamas captivity. I can only imagine his and his family’s relief. Now, we need every single hostage released.”
On May 13, during National Police Week, Rep. Schrier acknowledged the contributions of law enforcement officers to community safety. She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting these efforts through legislative measures: “This National Police Week, we honor and recognize the brave work that our law enforcement officers do day in and day out to keep our communities safe. As your Congresswoman, I’m proud to have worked in Congress to ensure that our officers have the resources, funding, and support.”
