Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district since 2019, has recently highlighted legislative developments and policy concerns through a series of posts on her social media account.

On August 21, 2025, Schrier emphasized the importance of hydropower for her district and the broader Northwest region. She stated, “Hydropower is an essential, dependable energy source for #WA08 and the Northwest. I am proud that my bipartisan bill to improve efficiency and transparency in the hydropower relicensing process passed the House, and I look forward to continuing to advocate for affordable,”.

The following day, August 22, 2025, Schrier addressed recent actions by the Supreme Court regarding federal research funding. She wrote, “The Supreme Court gave a green light to the Trump Administration to slash nearly $800M in NIH funding for research, science, and innovation. These cuts will jeopardize jobs, our nation’s standing as a top pipeline for the greatest scientific minds, and our pursuit of lifesaving”.

Schrier has represented Washington’s 8th District since succeeding Dave Reichert in 2019. Born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently residing in Sammamish, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley (1991).
