Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district since 2019, has recently expressed her views on various issues through a series of tweets. These posts reflect her stance on healthcare policy, personal loss, and concerns over technology regulation.

On May 21, 2025, Rep. Schrier criticized a proposal by Congressional Republicans that she claims would negatively impact millions of Americans reliant on Medicaid. She stated: “Congressional Republicans’ plan to cut Medicaid and kick 13.7 million Americans off of their health care is morally bankrupt, will decimate our entire health care system, and hurt hardworking members of our community like Miguel, a senior from Wenatchee who depends on Medicaid.”

Later that day, Schrier expressed her condolences over the passing of her colleague Gerry Connolly. In her tweet at 14:34 UTC she mentioned: “I am deeply saddened to hear that my friend, colleague, and mentor, Gerry Connolly, has passed away. He was a model of what it means to fight fiercely for the benefit of his constituents, and we will all feel his absence deeply.”

In another post on the same day at 22:01 UTC, Schrier addressed proposed legislation concerning AI regulations: “House Republicans are trying to hand Big Tech a gift with a 10-year ban on state AI regulations… This is outrageous.” She voiced concern about potential negative impacts unregulated AI might have.

Kim Schrier was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently resides in Sammamish. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
