Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district, posted a series of updates on social media addressing ongoing storm and flood concerns in Washington state.
On December 12, 2025, Schrier shared information for residents seeking emergency shelter: “Please view the link below for an updated list of storm shelters across Washington state. Call 911 or text SHELTER to 4FEMA (43362) if you need immediate help.”
Later that day, she acknowledged collaborative efforts among officials responding to the crisis: “Grateful for Governor Ferguson and the Trump Administration’s quick work to secure an emergency declaration, and for the tireless work of first responders and state officials on the ground. This declaration will help to ensure that our state has access to the resources we need” (December 12, 2025).
On December 13, Schrier provided further resource information via her weekly update: “Here is this week’s Schrier Flyer with storm/flood resource information.”
Schrier has represented Washington’s 8th District since replacing Dave Reichert in Congress in 2019. She was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and resides in Sammamish. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 1991, she continues to use her platform to share timely public safety updates during severe weather events.
