Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district, has been vocal about her stance on healthcare and legislative priorities through a series of tweets on May 14, 2025. These posts highlight her commitment to defending Medicaid and her concerns regarding current legislative discussions.

In a tweet posted at 2:04 AM UTC, Schrier expressed gratitude for having Rep. Jeffries by her side as they reached the seventh hour of their efforts to protect Medicaid. She emphasized that “taking health insurance away from 13.7 million Americans will hurt us all,” reaffirming her readiness to continue fighting for Medicaid as long as necessary.

Later, at 4:23 AM UTC, Schrier noted that despite it being past midnight during the Energy and Commerce Committee markup session, healthcare had not yet been discussed. Instead, she criticized Republicans for focusing on what she described as a “dangerous, absurd attempt to deregulate artificial intelligence.”

By 5:09 AM UTC, Schrier reported that discussions had finally reached the Medicaid provisions at 1:00 AM. She condemned attempts to remove health insurance from millions of Americans during late-night sessions.

Kim Schrier was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently resides in Sammamish. She has represented Washington’s 8th District since succeeding Dave Reichert in 2019 and is an alumna of the University of California, Berkeley.
