Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 8th district since 2019, has recently shared updates on her work with local businesses and weighed in on national security issues through posts on her social media account.

On January 20, 2026, Schrier addressed the aftermath of recent flooding in Leavenworth by meeting with community leaders. She wrote, “I recently had the opportunity to hear from Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Troy Campbell about how last month’s flooding has impacted local businesses and discuss how to support them going forward.”

Later that day, Schrier participated in her recurring “Hire Dr. Schrier” initiative at a local business in Issaquah. She posted on January 20, 2026: “For this latest round of Hire Dr. Schrier, I joined the team at JoJo’s Coffee in Issaquah! It was great to serve constituents coffee, and chat with owners JoJo and Elena about their shop. Special thanks to Christina from the Downtown Issaquah Association for speaking with me”.

On January 21, 2026, Schrier commented on former President Donald Trump’s foreign policy moves regarding Greenland: “Trump’s attempt to take over Greenland is reckless and extremely damaging to our national security and our standing in the world. He is alienating our closest allies, making our country less safe, and escalating trade wars that will only make life more expensive for all of us.”

Schrier has served as a member of Congress since replacing Dave Reichert in 2019 and represents communities across Washington’s 8th District. Born in Los Angeles in 1968, she currently resides in Sammamish. Before entering politics, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
