Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district, shared a series of statements on social media addressing current issues and events of personal and communal significance.
On May 2, 2025, Schrier expressed concerns over the Trump Administration’s decision to withhold critical funding for the University of Washington’s (UW) cancer research. Schrier criticized this decision, stating that it is “shameful” and accused the administration of “delaying cures and putting patients’ lives at risk for no good reason.”
The following day, on May 3, 2025, Schrier highlighted May as Jewish American Heritage Month in a post celebrating the “immense contributions and history of Jewish Americans.” She emphasized the importance of honoring and celebrating the Jewish American community.
On May 4, 2025, Schrier welcomed Cle Elum Mayor Matthew Lundh to Washington D.C. The meeting focused on Cle Elum’s priorities and potential collaborations to support their constituents. Schrier expressed her satisfaction in engaging with local leadership to address community matters.
Kim Schrier has been serving Congress since 2019, representing Washington’s 8th district, succeeding Dave Reichert. She was born in Los Angeles, California in 1968 and lives in Sammamish, having graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991.
