Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., who represents Washington’s 8th Congressional District in the U.S. Congress, addressed constituents on social media this week regarding severe flooding and ongoing storm conditions across the region.
On December 16, Schrier posted a message to her followers: “As storm conditions continue to pick up this week, please visit the below link for updated information on road closures, flood shelter locations, and flood insurance claim resources. FOR EMERGENCIES, CALL 911 OR TEXT SHELTER to 4FEMA (43362).”
The following day, she acknowledged the widespread impact of the floods and expressed gratitude for those responding to the crisis. On December 17, she wrote: “Communities all over the Eighth Congressional District and Washington state are feeling the impacts of the devastating floods. Thank you to our first responders and local leaders who are still working around-the-clock to keep us all safe. Together, we will work to rebuild and”
Later that same day, Schrier paid tribute to a fellow lawmaker from Washington state: “It has been an honor and privilege to serve with Congressman Newhouse. I’m proud of all the ways we’ve worked together for the benefit of our districts and state, and proud of the legislation we’ve championed together. Thank you, Dan, for your many years of service and dedication”
Schrier has represented Washington’s 8th district since replacing Dave Reichert in 2019. She was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently resides in Sammamish. Schrier holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
