Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district since 2019, recently shared updates on her official Twitter account about local community efforts, energy policy, and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

On January 18, 2026, Schrier highlighted her visit to a local health facility: “I recently visited the Snoqualmie Valley Healing Center, where I learned more about the vital services the center offers local patients. A special thank you to Pastor Patti for her work taking care of the community during last month’s flooding. Thanks for the opportunity to https://t.co/lDmnOeGR6n”.

Later that day, she addressed federal actions regarding energy policy in Washington state: “The Trump Administration has blocked the closure of the Centralia coal-fired power plant, despite agreements from the plant’s owners and Washington state over a decade ago to convert the facility from coal to natural gas. It’s time for the administration to stop delaying https://t.co/tH7nSnemRa”.

On January 19, 2026, Schrier commemorated a key figure in American history: “Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His fight for civil rights and equality continues to inspire us in our work for a more free and just country. https://t.co/iJ4yQi2nWE”.

Schrier succeeded Dave Reichert as representative of Washington’s 8th District in 2019 and has since focused on healthcare access and environmental issues among other legislative priorities. Born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently residing in Sammamish, Schrier holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
