Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th District since 2019, recently shared several messages on social media addressing mental health awareness, teacher appreciation, and Medicaid policy.
On May 7, Rep. Schrier highlighted the importance of Mental Health Awareness Month by reminding her constituents that support is always available. She stated, “This Mental Health Awareness Month, remember that you are never alone. In 2020, Congress established the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, here to support you 24/7 by text, call, or chat.”
The following day on May 8, she expressed gratitude towards educators in her district during Teacher Appreciation Week. Her message read: “Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to every educator in the Eighth District! The role our educators play is invaluable – serving as teachers, role models, mentors, and tireless advocates for their students.”
Later that same day on May 8, Rep. Schrier discussed her efforts concerning Medicaid policy amidst ongoing political debates. She wrote about her conversation with MomsRising regarding these issues: “As a mother and a pediatrician… I was happy to speak with @MomsRising on my work to fight against Republican attempts to cut Medicaid.”
Kim Schrier was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently resides in Sammamish. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
