Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 8th district since 2019, recently addressed several key policy issues on her social media account, focusing on trade policy, forest management, and healthcare.

On July 23, 2025, Schrier criticized the previous administration’s trade policies by stating: “Trump’s haphazard trade war is driving up costs, threatening jobs, and slowing our nation’s economic growth. I’ll keep fighting to improve the lives of folks across #WA08, not make things harder.”

Later that day, she discussed efforts to support environmental initiatives in Washington state. She wrote: “I met with Washington State Forester George Geissler to discuss the importance of protecting federal support for forest service employees, natural resource grants, wildlife preservation projects, and forest resilience programs across our state and the Eighth District.”

On July 24, Schrier highlighted healthcare concerns alongside former American Academy of Pediatrics President Benjamin Hoffman: “Former @AmerAcadPeds President Benjamin Hoffman and I both know that Medicaid protects and saves the lives of children across our country. We had the opportunity to talk about how Republican cuts to Americans’ healthcare will harm our communities, and how to continue to fight for”

Schrier has represented Washington’s 8th District in Congress since replacing Dave Reichert in 2019. Born in Los Angeles in 1968 and now residing in Sammamish, she holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
