Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., U.S. Representative for Washington’s 8th congressional district, addressed several policy issues in a series of posts on her official Twitter account.

On March 23, 2026, Rep. Schrier marked the anniversary of a major healthcare law: “Today marks the 16th anniversary of President Obama signing the Affordable Care Act into law, which expanded healthcare access for millions of Americans and protected patients with pre-existing conditions. Now, countless Americans are seeing their premiums skyrocket after https://t.co/nbxIW0jrRx”. The Affordable Care Act (ACA), signed in 2010 by President Barack Obama, aimed to expand health insurance coverage and introduced protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

The following day, March 24, 2026, Rep. Schrier raised concerns about public land management: “The Trump Administration’s cuts to the Forest Service have made trails across the country unsafe and inaccessible. I led 21 of my colleagues, alongside @RepSalinas, in urging the Administration to clarify their plans to address deteriorating conditions as the summer season https://t.co/6Tcoz5h1bW”. In this post, she referenced efforts by members of Congress to seek clarification from federal officials regarding funding reductions affecting trail safety and accessibility.

Later that same day, Rep. Schrier highlighted affordable housing initiatives within her district: “Thank you, Imagine Housing, for giving me a tour of the Rose Crest Community to learn more about your work to expand affordable housing services for those in #WA08. https://t.co/tv3ZEO5gty”. Imagine Housing is an organization focused on providing affordable housing solutions in Washington state.

The ACA remains a significant piece of legislation affecting millions nationwide by expanding Medicaid eligibility and establishing insurance marketplaces. Federal budget decisions impacting agencies such as the Forest Service can influence public access to recreation areas and trail maintenance responsibilities often fall on both federal and local partners. Efforts like those undertaken by Imagine Housing reflect ongoing responses at local levels to address rising demand for affordable homes.
