Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th District since 2019, recently addressed several issues impacting her community through social media posts. Schrier, who has been serving since replacing Dave Reichert, shared concerns over proposed Medicaid cuts, expressed condolences on the death of a local leader, and extended holiday greetings to her constituents.
On April 19, 2025, Rep. Schrier communicated her recent efforts to gather insights from local healthcare leaders on potential consequences of Medicaid budget reductions. “I recently brought together leaders from local healthcare organizations to hear from them about the impacts that potential Medicaid cuts would have on our community. The Republicans’ attempt to cut Medicaid by $880 billion would be devastating for the Eighth District, especially,” she tweeted.
In a tweet dated April 20, 2025, Schrier expressed her sorrow over the passing of Bill Ramos, a notable figure in Washington State. She stated, “I’m just heartbroken. Bill Ramos was a dear friend, an incredible leader, and a treasured partner in serving our communities. We have lost a true champion in Washington State. My heart is with @CMSarahPerry, and all who loved him. He will be deeply missed.”
Finally, on the same day, she extended festive greetings to her followers celebrating Easter in her district. She conveyed well wishes, “Happy Easter to everyone celebrating in the Eighth District! May you enjoy a wonderful day with loved ones.”
Kim Schrier, born in Los Angeles, California, in 1968, currently resides in Sammamish and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley, obtained in 1991.
