Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., who represents Washington’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on federal funding for public safety, health recommendations for her constituents, and staffing concerns at a regional power administration through a series of posts on her official Twitter account.

On January 12, 2026, Schrier announced the allocation of significant federal resources to improve forensic processes in King County. She stated: “Proud to have secured $800k in federal funding for @kingcosoPIO’s rapid DNA testing machine, which will improve public safety by clearing case backlogs with a faster forensic process. I look forward to continuing to support projects that help keep our communities safe.”

Later that day, she addressed public health ahead of the winter season. In a post dated January 12, 2026, Schrier wrote: “WA-08: Don’t forget to get vaccinated to keep you and your loved ones healthy this winter! For information on how to access flu and COVID shots, visit: https://t.co/zHbn3wDXJr https://t.co/K4xIT9Djo6”

On January 13, 2026, Schrier turned her attention to staffing issues at Bonneville Power Administration following changes under the previous presidential administration.
