Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., who represents Washington’s 8th congressional district in the U.S. Congress, has used her social media platform to highlight concerns about healthcare costs and federal assistance programs affecting her constituents.
On November 4, 2025, Schrier posted about a recent meeting with local health leaders: “I recently met with leaders from Lake Chelan Health to talk about the impact of Medicaid cuts on our communities, and how the expiration of critical ACA tax credits will harm working families here in #WA08.”
Later that day, she addressed rising healthcare premiums during open enrollment: “With open enrollment beginning, folks across #WA08 are getting sticker shock from the high price of their premiums. Katja, a small business owner from Issaquah, reached out to let us know that her family’s healthcare premiums for 2026 will nearly DOUBLE. That is plain”
On November 5, Schrier commented on national food assistance funding issues: “President Trump is continuing to play politics with food assistance funding. This is illegal, cruel, and must end immediately.
Republicans in Congress must work across the aisle to end the shutdown, protect our healthcare, and make sure that children, families, and Veterans”
Schrier has served as the representative for Washington’s 8th District since 2019 after succeeding Dave Reichert. She was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently resides in Sammamish. Schrier holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
