Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 8th district since 2019, recently posted on her Twitter account about community events and national remembrance.

On December 7, 2025, Rep. Schrier marked Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day by posting: “On Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we honor the memory of the soldiers, sailors, and civilians who died on December 7, 1941 and remember the heroes who served on that fateful day.”

The following day, December 8, she celebrated local student achievements in technology innovation. She wrote: “I was happy to host our local Congressional App Challenge contestants and congratulate our winners, Pranav Venkatesh, Aviv Chatterjee, Aadi Saraf, and Ikhtyar Esmail! Their app, MediConnect, allows EMTs to access details such as allergies, medications, conditions, and past” The message highlighted the importance of youth engagement in STEM fields through initiatives like the Congressional App Challenge.

Later that same day, Rep. Schrier shared her experience visiting a local school: “Thank you Tahoma High School for letting me stop by to chat with students in civics, robotics, and even sports medicine classes! You all have such bright futures ahead of you, and I look forward to visiting again soon.”

Kim Schrier has represented Washington’s 8th District in Congress since replacing Dave Reichert in 2019. Born in Los Angeles in 1968 and now residing in Sammamish at age 54, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley (1991).
