Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., U.S. Representative for Washington’s 8th congressional district, recently used her Twitter account to highlight meetings with law enforcement, discuss healthcare concerns, and address rising retail crime in her district.
On May 14, Schrier acknowledged the efforts of local police during National Police Week. She wrote, “During this #NationalPoliceWeek, I was proud to meet with the West Coast Law Enforcement Coalition group to talk about their work to improve public safety across #WA08. Thank you for all that you do.”
The following day, on May 15, Schrier criticized Republican policies regarding healthcare funding. In her tweet she stated, “Tens of thousands of Washingtonians have lost their healthcare this year because Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress funded tax breaks for billionaires instead of healthcare coverage for Americans.
I will keep fighting to expand healthcare and lower prices across the”. Recent policy changes at both federal and state levels have contributed to shifts in Medicaid eligibility and access to affordable care for many residents.
Later on May 15, Schrier addressed concerns from small business owners about increased retail crime. She posted, “I continue to hear from small business owners and community members back home that retail crime has increased across #WA08, threatening public safety and our local economies.
