Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing Washington’s 8th district, has been active in championing agricultural and community issues, as evidenced through her recent tweets. Schrier, who took office in 2019, has consistently advocated for the local agricultural sector and infrastructure.
On March 26, 2025, Rep. Schrier expressed her support for Washington’s apple industry during a meeting with representatives from USApple. She emphasized her ongoing efforts to tackle challenges such as international tariffs. “I was thrilled to meet with @usapples representatives from Washington State! I’ve proudly fought for our apple industry in Washington, including pushing for India to drop their destructive tariffs on Washington apples, and I will continue to advocate for our growers.”
In another engagement, this time on March 27, 2025, Schrier focused on postal service issues in rural areas of the 8th District. During talks with the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association, she discussed strategies to ensure timely mail delivery. “I know that for many rural communities in the Eighth District, receiving their mail in a timely, dependable matter is a key concern. In my meeting with representatives from the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association, we spoke on ways we can work together to address this.”
Rep. Schrier continued her focus on agriculture, particularly the blueberry industry in Washington, the nation’s leading producer of blueberries. On March 28, 2025, she emphasized her commitment to support local producers during a meeting with the North American Blueberry Council. “Washington State produces the most blueberries in the country, and keeping this industry strong is vital for our agriculture community. That’s why I was happy to meet with representatives from @NABCBlues to go over my work supporting Washington producers!”
