On December 6, 2024, Rep. Kim Schrier reflected on a significant moment in American history. She stated, “On December 6, 1865, the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery in the United States. As we reflect on this dark chapter in our nation’s history, we’re reminded of our continued pursuit of building a more just and perfect union.”
