She noted that “On June 19, 1865, news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas.” She emphasized the ongoing struggle for equality stating that “the fight for equality is far from over.”

In another post dated June 20, 2025, Schrier shared her experience visiting a local community center with Auburn Mayor Backus. She expressed pride in having secured federal funding for the Auburn Consolidated Resource Center. The center offers essential services such as mental health assistance, employment services, and housing support. Schrier stated: “I am proud to have secured federal funding for this center that is helping the community.”

Kim Schrier was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently resides in Sammamish. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree obtained in 1991, she succeeded Dave Reichert as representative of Washington’s 8th district.
