Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D., a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 8th District, has provided updates on emergency management efforts and community well-wishes through several posts on her official X (formerly Twitter) account in mid-December 2025.
On December 14, Schrier shared details of a meeting with local officials to address emergency conditions and recovery planning. She stated, “I met this afternoon with the Pierce County Emergency Management team, Governor Ferguson, Mayor-elect Peloli, Councilmember Morell, and County Executive Mello for an update on local conditions and relief and recovery plans for the upcoming week. Thank you all for your continued https://t.co/kWpKlAJyo3”.
The following day, Schrier extended holiday greetings while acknowledging global concerns affecting the Jewish community. In her post dated December 15, she wrote, “From my family to yours, Happy Hanukkah to everyone celebrating in WA08. As we celebrate tonight, our hearts go out to the Jewish community in Sydney, Australia. We are reminded that this holiday represents the eternal victory of lightness over dark.”
Later that day, Schrier addressed ongoing weather-related challenges impacting her district: “My team is continuing to monitor storm impacts in the Eighth District, including landslides and flooding in Chelan County as wildfire conditions weakened hillsides in the area. Please continue to follow emergency alerts as rain continues this week. Our office will continue to”.
Schrier has represented Washington’s 8th District since 2019 after succeeding Dave Reichert. Born in Los Angeles in 1968 and currently residing in Sammamish, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
