The Wenatchee City Council taken the first step in noise ordinance review and formed a subcommittee to examine the current noise ordinance limits and then determine if those guidelines need to be updated.
Community Development Director Glen DeVries told the city council that the group would consist of council members, planning commission staff, the police chief, the city attorney and executive services director along with community development staff, KPQ reported.
“What we’re proposing is for staff to get together as a team and do so some additional research for ideas and options for the process. Starting in late January, begin with the subcommittee for 2-3 meetings and then meeting up with city council in March," he told KPQ.
Mayor Frank Kuntz says that he believes that the noise ordinance guidelines do not need to be updated and Devries added that there would be an option not to change the current ordinance in the review process.
Public input will be solicited at a later time.
