As election season nears, residents and businesses may want to show support for a candidate with a candidate sign. These types of signs are called temporary signs. The City of Wenatchee has codes that outline the size, location, height above grade and quantity of signs you can have on specific properties. Title 10.50.160 covers temporary signs. No permit is required for a temporary sign.
Type 1 small yard signs are for residential lots and commercial lots with less that 100 feet of street frontage. These signs have a maximum sign size of 6 square feet (example 2x3). commercial properties are allowed to have 1 sign per business. Residential properties have no limit, however signs must be separated by 25 feet and cannot be more than 42 inches above grade.
Type 3 large yard signs are for commercial properties and residential lots with more that 100 feet of street frontage. The parcel cannot contain a permanent freestanding sign with digital or changeable copy. One sign may be displayed per property and the maximum size of the sign is 24 square feet (example 4x6), maximum height of the sign, including supports, is eight feet above grade.
As a reminder, candidate signs are not allowed on public property or City right-of way.
