Current Conditions on Sept. 8, 2022: Air quality is mostly good in the region with areas of moderate and unhealthy air quality due to smoke from wildfires. Smoke is moving south
from fires in the north Washington Cascades. The Methow Valley is experiencing deteriorating air quality ranging from moderate to unhealthy conditions due to active fire behavior
smoke from the Chilliwack Complex Fire and NW Pasayten Complex Fires in the north.
Forecast: Unhealthy levels of smoke will persist throughout the remainder of the day and evening in the Methow Valley, and high-level smoke will start moving into areas west of the
Cascades.
Extended Forecast: Strong winds out of the northeast will bring smoke into communities west of the Cascades including Bellingham and continuing to push southwest throughout
the day bring smoke into the Puget Sound by tomorrow afternoon (9/9/22). This will also bring improved air quality to the Methow Valley by the early afternoon. Air quality will continue
to degrade into the evening for communities in western Washington closest to the fires, including Bellingham and Burlington.
