FIRE UPDATE:
There is a predicted wind event which may cause fires burning in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest to become more visible. The volume of smoke may increase from all fires.
Following is the status of fires burning in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
Wenatchee River Ranger District fires:

2. The ¼-acre Cady Ridge Fire, located 25 miles northwest of Plain, WA, is staffed with six rappelers. Cady Ridge Trail remains open.
3. The 4-acre Meander Fire, located a half mile south of the Cady Ridge Trail, is being monitored due to its location in steep terrain, and firefighter safety concerns. Yesterday, the fire was smoldering and creeping with some light wispy smoke visible.
4. There has been little change in the 6-acre lightning-caused Buck Creek Fire which is burning in the Glacier Peak Wilderness 29 miles northwest of Plain, WA. Fire behavior has been minimal, the fire has been smoldering and creeping along the ground.
5. No change in activity has occurred on the 1.5 acre Phelps Ridge Fire located a mile or so south of the Buck Creek Fire. The fire continues to smolder and creep through fuels on the forest floor.
6. The half-acre Grasshopper Meadow Fire is burning in the White River drainage 18 miles northwest of Plain, WA. The fire is staffed by the Lakeview Hotshot crew and a couple of fire engines.
Methow Valley Ranger District fires:
There are eight fires burning on the Methow Valley Ranger District, most are in the northwest corner of the Pasayten Wilderness Area and are being monitored due to their remote locations. There are no trail or area closures associated with these fires. Smoke from these fires will be visible to users of northwest Pasayten trails.
1. Black Canyon Fire is a half an acre in size and is staffed with two fire engines and a 20-person crew. Helicopters were able to drop water on the fire this morning. It is located 5 miles northwest of Pateros, WA.
2. Parks Fire is 20 acres and is located just a mile and a half south of the Canadian/U.S. border. The fire is being monitored.
3. Schull Fire is three-quarters of an acre and is located 2 miles northwest of Deception Pass and 9 miles south of the Canada/U.S. border.
4. Big Face Fire is 1/10 acre and is located 4 miles south of the border.
5. Three Fools Fire is 3 acres and is 7 miles south of the border.
6. Powder Mountain Fire is 1/10 acre and 8 miles south of the border.
7. Skagit Fire is 1/10 acre and 5 and a half miles south of the border.
8. Welcome Basin Fire is 1/10 acre and located 3.5 miles south of the border.
