The Wenatchee City Council will partner with the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust to apply for a grant to improve the Wenatchee Foothills area, according to 560KPQ.
The partnership will co-sponsor the grant application with the purpose of improving approximately 14 miles of the area, the news media reported. The project will cost approximately $54,000.
“The reason why the City would be involved is because the land trust needs to have something in writing that basically says that it’s O.K. that they do this work on City property,” Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Director Dave Erickson said, the news media reported.
The city hopes the project will begin in either 2021 or 2022, the news media reported. The areas that will be improved are Sage Hills, Foothills North, Saddle Rock Natural Area, Jacobson Preserve, Horse Lake Reserve and Kenzie's Landing.
The land trust will provide $17,700 for the project. The city won't be paying anything toward the project, the news media reported.
