On March 13, 2025, Rep. Schrier expressed her readiness to vote for a four-week government funding extension aimed at preventing harmful cuts and maintaining government operations. Later that day, Schrier criticized Elon Musk and Donald Trump for their decision to cut federal funding for the Department of Education by half. She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting local schools and accused Musk of diverting funds rather than balancing the budget. "Musk and Trump are cutting federal funding for the Department of Education in half... Make no mistake, Elon Musk is not trying to balance the budget."
