Douglas County tapped a company to manage its food program for residents who have contracted the COVID-19 virus or quarantining because of exposure to prevent its spread while getting food.
The county said it signed a deal with Serve Wenatchee Valley to oversee its emergency food assistance program, 560KPQ news radio reported in November.
“The value of running these programs together is that it offers an option of resources needed that best serves the families affected by COVID-19”, Serve Wenatchee Valley Executive Director Thom Nees said, 560KPQ news radio reported.
The contract will continue for the rest of November and throughout December.
“Douglas County has secured funding to provide food for 400 families of four per month,” Douglas County Clerk of the Board Tiana Rowland said, 560KPQ news radio reported. “The goal of this program is to encourage those in isolation or quarantine to stay home with a secure access to food so they can focus on getting well, while at the same time, protecting the health of their community by staying home.”
